The California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) has announced that Cal EPIC has joined its statewide network. Cal EPIC focuses on advancing research and development in energy and transportation technology, with an emphasis on clean mobility and workforce training.

Lance Hastings, President & CEO of CMTA, stated, “Cal EPIC’s commitment to advancing manufacturing and mobility solutions makes them a strong addition to our network. Their presence further strengthens CMTA’s ability to advocate for innovation and effective workforce development across the state’s manufacturing sector.”

Orville Thomas, CEO of Cal EPIC, said, “Cal EPIC is proud to join CMTA and be part of such a dynamic network of California innovators. Our work at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, energy, and transportation aligns closely with CMTA’s mission, and we look forward to collaborating with fellow members to strengthen the industry and bring clean tech manufacturing back to California.”

Cal EPIC operates the Ramp-Up Factory in Sacramento, a 25,000-square-foot facility that offers hands-on training programs for electric-vehicle technicians and other green-career roles. The organization also supports prototype development and small-scale production.

CMTA represents manufacturers across California. The association advocates for policies that support growth in the sector. Manufacturing contributes about $300 billion annually to California’s economy—approximately 10 percent of the state’s total economic output—and employs around 1.3 million people in jobs that pay higher wages than other non-farm positions.

Cal EPIC is structured as a non-profit public-private partnership led by leaders in clean technology innovation. Its initiatives include supporting autonomous vehicles, zero-emission infrastructure projects, and providing resources for early-stage commercialization efforts within California.
