California agencies offer free fair housing webinars for property managers

The California Department of Real Estate (DRE) and the California Civil Rights Department are offering a free webinar series aimed at property managers. The series is designed to provide information on fair housing protections and responsibilities.

The first session, “Fair Housing 101,” will take place on August 27, 2025, from 1-2 pm. It will address topics such as source-of-income discrimination, protections for applicants with criminal histories, and emotional support animals.

A second session, “Housing Protections for People with Disabilities,” is scheduled for September 11, 2025, from 11 am to noon. This webinar will focus on the specific fair housing protections available for people with disabilities and the responsibilities of housing providers regarding reasonable accommodations and modifications.

Another “Fair Housing 101” session is set for October 2, 2025, from 11 am to noon. The content will mirror that of the August event.

On October 21, 2025, from 11 am to noon, there will be a webinar titled “Housing Protections for People with Disabilities.” This session will discuss legal protections available to people with criminal histories seeking or retaining housing and outline best practices and responsibilities for housing providers.
