Marty Turock, Executive Director of Cleantech San Diego’s Southern California Energy Innovation Network (SCEIN), has received the Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the 2025 Clean Energy Hall of Fame Awards. Over a career spanning two decades, Turock has promoted clean energy initiatives in San Diego, supporting startups and leading efforts in energy efficiency and renewable solutions.
According to the award summary, Turock has supported 75 startups through SCEIN, helped secure more than $546 million in investment, created over 800 jobs, and mentored over 150 leaders in the cleantech sector. His projects have included retrofitting streetlights across multiple cities, resulting in significant annual energy savings, and advancing clean energy adoption at municipal and school facilities. These efforts have contributed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 70 million pounds across dozens of school districts.
Judith Gomez was named Youth Game-Changer for her work with Climate Action Pathways for Schools (CAPS) in Porterville. Gomez began advocating for climate action at age 15 and has since helped reduce energy costs and emissions for local schools. She played a role in securing federal funding for efficiency upgrades and is currently attending Stanford University.
Jose “Moke” Simon III, Chairman of Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians, received the Tribal Champion Award. Under his leadership, Middletown Rancheria became the first Native American tribe in California to receive an Energy Conservation Assistance Act loan, improving access to clean energy within tribal communities.
The Clean Energy Champions recognized include Kameale C. Terry, CEO and Co-Founder of ChargerHelp!; Jaime R. Lemus, Director at Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District; and Dr. Cassandra Little, CEO of Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce (FMBCC). Their work ranges from enhancing electric vehicle infrastructure to launching clean mobility networks and workforce training programs.
The California Energy Commission leads state efforts toward a fully clean energy future by developing renewables, transforming transportation systems, increasing efficiency measures, investing in innovation, shaping policy decisions, certifying power plants, and preparing for emergencies.
