The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has released three new educational videos aimed at helping the public better understand and participate in its proceedings. The videos are designed to guide individuals and organizations on how to get involved in the CPUC’s decision-making processes.

The first video explains how to use the CPUC’s Docket Card system, which provides access to information about recent decisions, motions, and comments that affect essential services such as energy, rail, telecommunications, transportation, and water across California.

A second video outlines how members of the public can become parties to CPUC proceedings. According to the commission, both individuals and organizations have the opportunity to participate formally in these processes.

A third video addresses ex parte communication rules. It details when and how parties can communicate outside of public hearings or workshops while remaining compliant with CPUC’s Rules of Practice & Procedure.

“These videos provide the answers you need to participate in civic discourse and policymaking at the CPUC,” said Kimberly Ellis, Public Information Officer II. “With the help of these new videos, you can bring your diverse perspective to CPUC proceedings to help ensure utility services are safe, reliable, and affordable for all Californians.”

The release of these resources is part of ongoing efforts by the commission’s business and community outreach programs to make regulatory processes more accessible.
