The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has announced a series of public forums to collect feedback on Southern California Gas Company’s (SoCalGas) proposal to close its 43 remaining branch offices. Currently, these offices allow customers to pay bills, ask questions about their service, and access other in-person services.

SoCalGas has requested CPUC approval for the closures, which would end the availability of these in-person services at all existing branch locations.

The CPUC is encouraging customers to participate in upcoming public forums to share their views on how the proposed closures might impact them. Both in-person and virtual options are available. The forums are scheduled as follows:

– January 26, 2026: In-person sessions at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Glendale City Council Chambers, 613 E. Broadway, Glendale.
– February 2, 2026: In-person sessions at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Santa Ana Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana.
– February 6, 2026: Virtual sessions at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., accessible via toll-free phone at 800-857-1917 (Passcode: 1673482#), with online viewing available at http://www.adminmonitor.com/ca/cpuc/.

Customers can attend any of these events to provide spoken comments or may submit written feedback through the proceeding’s Docket Card online portal.

The CPUC noted that while a quorum of commissioners or their staff may be present during these public participation hearings, no official decisions will be made during the events.

Anyone needing specialized accommodations such as non-English or American Sign Language interpretation is encouraged to contact the CPUC’s Public Advisor’s Office at least five business days before the event by emailing public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov or calling toll-free at 866-849-8390.

Further information about the proceedings can be found on the CPUC website (www.cpuc.ca.gov).

According to its mission statement, “The CPUC regulates services and utilities, protects consumers, safeguards the environment, and assures Californians access to safe and reliable utility infrastructure and services.”
