Families traveling through California can find a mix of educational and entertaining attractions along a 300-mile road trip. The journey begins in San Francisco at the Exploratorium, located at Pier 15 in the Embarcadero. This museum offers interactive exhibits such as standing in a fog cloud and exploring the Tactile Dome.

The next stop is the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, where visitors can learn about the history of computers, innovations like driverless cars, and figures such as Ada Lovelace.

In San Jose, families can visit The Tech Museum of Innovation to build robots or play cyber detective. Nearby, the Children’s Discovery Museum provides hands-on activities including blowing giant bubbles and learning about rain catchment systems.

Travelers then head to Gilroy Gardens, an amusement park known for agriculture-themed rides like the Artichoke Dip and more than 20 uniquely shaped Circus Trees.

The route continues south to Monterey Bay Aquarium. The aquarium offers tours for children that include opportunities to try scuba diving. Booking tickets online is recommended to avoid waiting lines.

The final destination is Fresno Chaffee Zoo. Recently renovated, this zoo features animals from around the world such as red kangaroos and wildebeest. Children have the chance to feed giraffes by hand.
