IAM Local 914 held the Gift of Justice Winter Wonderland Black Tie Gala, an event aimed at celebrating the holiday season and recognizing individuals who promote justice, equity, and dignity. The gala was organized by the IAM Local 914 Human Rights Committee and brought together union members, their families, community partners, and leaders.

During the event, attendees donated toys that were distributed to two local nonprofit organizations: New Hope Village for Veterans and Parents Engaging Parents. Nearly 500 children received gifts through this initiative. Both organizations provide support and resources to veterans, parents, and families in need.

Awards were given to several union leaders for their contributions. IAM International President Brian Bryant received the Beacon of Solidarity Award. General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes was honored with the Trailblazer Award. The Guardian of Transportation Workers Award went to Richie Johnsen, IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President. Nicole Fears, IAM Human Rights Director, received the Champion of Human Rights Award.

“I am deeply honored to accept this award,” said Richie Johnsen. “Protecting the rights of transportation workers is at the heart of the labor movement—and it is a human rights issue we must never stop fighting for.”

“Solidarity is the foundation of the labor movement, and this recognition reinforces our commitment to fight for dignity, fairness, and justice for all workers,” said Brian Bryant.

“I accept this award on behalf of the union members whose dedication, grit, and unity continue to break barriers and open doors for generations of workers to come,” said Dora Cervantes.

“I am proud to help organize opportunities for our members to gather and give back,” said Donyea Hoffman, Chair of IAM Local 914 Human Rights Committee. “Our union stands for more than workers’ rights—we stand for strong, thriving communities, and this event lets us put that commitment into action.”

The evening highlighted both recognition within the labor movement as well as outreach efforts supporting children and military veterans in local communities.
