The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) recently hosted its 2025 Joint Air Transport Safety Committee (JATSC) Conference at the William W. Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The event brought together union members and safety advocates to focus on improving safety in the air transport sector.

Key areas of discussion included collaborative safety programs such as the Ground Safety Action Program, strategies for injury prevention and hazard mitigation, and support for training and education. The committee also emphasized the importance of strong worker safety reporting systems.

The conference featured daily video wrap-up reports that summarized each day’s activities. These reports covered presentations on issues like distracted driving and the challenges of carelessness and complacency in the workplace.

According to the IAM, these efforts are part of a broader commitment to ensuring a safer working environment for air transport workers. The event also provided an opportunity for participants to share best practices and discuss ways to further strengthen workplace safety initiatives.
