Nvidia has submitted plans to the City of Santa Clara for a new office building at its headquarters campus. The proposed structure would add 692,634 square feet to the company’s existing facilities at 2300 and 2350 Walsh Avenue.
The new building is designed in a hexagonal shape, similar to Nvidia’s other signature buildings in the area known as “Voyager” and “Endeavor.” These buildings are located along San Tomas Expressway and Walsh Avenue. According to planning documents, the new facility will be connected by a pedestrian bridge to Nvidia’s starship-like headquarters at 2788 and 2880 San Tomas Expressway. Gensler, which previously designed Voyager and Endeavor, is also responsible for this expansion project.
The site for the planned office sits on 13 acres currently occupied by a ten-building office and research campus that Nvidia acquired earlier this year for $123 million. This transaction was among the largest property deals in Santa Clara during the year.
Nvidia has been expanding its real estate holdings in response to rapid growth driven by developments in artificial intelligence. The company spent more than $400 million on properties surrounding its main campus this year. In July, it bought a four-building complex at 2740 Scott Boulevard for $4.5 million, followed by an $83.2 million purchase of a leased building at 2701 San Tomas Expressway from Sobrato in September.
In May, Nvidia filed separate plans for another development: a 324,000-square-foot structure at 2400 Condensa Street intended for offices, laboratory space, and parking.
While most of Nvidia’s recent acquisitions have been near its Santa Clara base, it recently expanded into San Francisco with its first office there. Last month, the company finalized a lease for 45,000 square feet at Building B of Mission Rock—a mixed-use development co-owned by Tishman Speyer and the San Francisco Giants—located at 1090 Doctor Maya Angelou Lane.
