On October 11, 2025, Oakland Police Department (OPD) officers arrested two individuals in East Oakland for possession of narcotics intended for sale. The arrests followed a community tip reported to the department’s drug hotline. Officers responded to the 2400 block of 77th Avenue and observed two people attempting to leave the area, where drug paraphernalia was also found.

Upon contacting the suspects, officers recovered suspected ecstasy pills and marijuana packaged for sale from one individual, while the other was found with marijuana. Both were taken into custody. During the investigation, officers also discovered a firearm in plain view inside a nearby vehicle. The keys to the vehicle were held by one of the arrested individuals.

The OPD stated its ongoing commitment to addressing illegal drug activity in the community. The department encourages residents to report suspicious or unlawful behavior by contacting the confidential Drug Hotline at 510-238-DRUG (3784).
