Oakland Police Department welcomes 28 new officer trainees in latest academy

Interim Chief James Beere has officially started the 196th Police Academy for the Oakland Police Department (OPD), introducing 28 new police officer trainees. The group includes four women and 24 men. According to OPD, many of these trainees are fluent in more than one language, and 18 either live in Oakland or have strong connections to the city.

Chief Beere welcomed the new recruits, emphasizing their diversity and local ties as the academy begins its training program.
