In the last week of July 2025, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) recovered 27 firearms and made several arrests across the city as part of its Summer Safety Plan.

On Sunday, OPD arrested two Oakland men for unrelated crimes. One suspect was connected to an armed carjacking that took place in 2024, while the other was apprehended for a robbery and assault from May 2025. Both cases were charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

Monday saw two more arrests. One man was taken into custody for a robbery at a business on Redwood Road. Another was arrested after Special Resource Section East Officers found an assault rifle during a vehicle stop; a search warrant at his residence led to the recovery of two additional firearms. A person inside the home was also arrested for multiple shooting warrants. All three individuals were charged by the District Attorney.

On Tuesday, officers arrested two more men for separate incidents: one related to a July 2024 robbery and another for an armed robbery at a business on Redwood Road. The District Attorney charged both cases.

Wednesday, Vice Unit Officers and SRS West Officers arrested a man wanted for a shooting in May 2025 on 39th Avenue. A firearm was recovered during this arrest, and the case will be presented to the District Attorney.

Thursday, Ceasefire Officers apprehended two men involved in a shooting that occurred on July 30, 2025, on 25th Street, recovering two firearms. This case will also be presented to prosecutors.

Also on Thursday, Patrol Officers responded to a robbery report on 92nd Avenue. Three suspects—two adults and one juvenile—were arrested at the scene; officers recovered both stolen items and a firearm. This case is being forwarded to the District Attorney as well.

“These results reflect the tireless efforts of the women and men of the Oakland Police Department, who continue working around the clock to keep our neighborhoods safe,” according to OPD’s statement. “OPD continues to work closely with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office to ensure individuals involved in crime are held accountable.”
