The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has recovered 27 firearms since August 8, according to a recent statement. Officers made several arrests last week related to weapons violations.

On August 11, the OPD’s Special Resource Section East conducted a vehicle stop involving a resident of Suisun. The suspect was arrested and a firearm was seized. This case has been charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

Two days later, on August 13, patrol officers served a search warrant at an Oakland residence in connection with firearm offenses. During the operation, officers arrested an individual and recovered multiple firearms, components for assembling firearms, and high-capacity magazines. The case will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

On August 14, patrol officers arrested an Oakland resident linked to a strongarm robbery that took place on August 11. This case has also been submitted to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

Also on August 14, members of OPD’s Special Resource Section West located and arrested another Oakland resident who was found with an illegal firearm. That case is now before the district attorney as well.

“These results reflect the efforts of the Oakland Police Department, who work tirelessly around the clock to keep our neighborhoods safe. Our success relies on collaboration with our law enforcement partners and community members. Your tips and trust are essential in identifying suspects, solving cases, and preventing future crimes,” said OPD officials in their statement.
