In recent days, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) has reported several incidents involving the recovery of illegal firearms from city streets.

On September 30, 2025, officers from OPD’s Ceasefire unit stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of 105th Avenue. During this stop, they arrested an individual for possessing an illegal firearm and recovered a semi-automatic weapon.

A day earlier, on September 29, Special Resource Section (SRS) East officers were patrolling the 1400 block of 80th Avenue when they noticed a firearm in plain view inside a car. Officers located and arrested an individual connected to that firearm.

In another case, after nearly a month-long investigation by OPD’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID), officers executed a search warrant at a suspect’s residence on September 25. The suspect was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred just after 11:00 p.m. on August 30 in the area of High Street and International Boulevard. During the search, officers arrested the suspect and recovered multiple firearms as well as evidence linking them to the shooting.

“OPD remains committed to reducing gun violence and keeping our neighborhoods safe. These recent arrests and firearm recoveries highlight the dedication of our officers and the importance of collaboration with our community. Working together, we can make Oakland safer,” stated the department.
