The Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) has announced that the enrollment period for the 2026-2027 school year will open on Wednesday, December 3, and close on February 8, 2026. Families are encouraged to enroll during this window to maximize their options for educational programs within the district.
“Enrolling during the on-time window gives you the best chance to ensure that your child is able to access all the educational opportunities Oakland Unified School District offers its students and families,” OUSD stated.
To enroll, families should visit ChooseOUSD.org and log in. The district notes that accounts for current OUSD families have already been created. They advise against creating new accounts, as this could erase existing student information. Instead, families are instructed to reset their password using the primary contact’s email address or phone number associated with their child’s Aeries account. Once logged in, parents can select and rank schools for application. Additional guidance is available through an attached “how-to” resource.
This process applies only to students who plan to move to a new school for the upcoming academic year; no action is required if a student will remain at their current school.
A new feature introduced this year allows families to apply for After-School Programs directly through Enrollwise after completing the main school application. “For the first time ever, you can submit your application for After-School Programs on Enrollwise. If you want your child to participate in After- or Before-School Programs, once you complete your main application for schools, you will have the option to then apply for After-School right in the Enrollwise portal. No additional applications will be needed. You will then be notified of acceptances through Enrollwise just like day school!” according to OUSD.
Families seeking more information about schools can visit www.ChooseOUSD.org where they can learn about electives, before-school care options, linked learning pathways, Advanced Placement classes, and special education programs offered throughout OUSD campuses.
Support is available from the Student Welcome Center via email at enroll@ousd.org, by text at (510) 879-4600, or in person at 746 Grand Avenue between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
