Alejandro “Alex” Vallejo has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer of PG&E Corporation and its subsidiary, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, effective September 30. Vallejo has worked at PG&E for 15 years in various leadership roles.

In his new position, Vallejo will oversee the People organization at PG&E. His responsibilities include talent acquisition, labor relations, coworker development, and change management. The goal is to maintain a strong workforce and build a culture focused on safety while meeting customer needs.

PG&E Corporation CEO Patti Poppe commented on the appointment: “Alex has been one of the most empathetic and trustworthy leaders I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He understands and models the culture we are working to build at PG&E—focused on safety, leading with love and causing joy for our coworkers and customers. I look forward to his leadership in developing our team to bring this culture to life every day.”

Vallejo replaces Kaled Awada, who recently left PG&E for other opportunities. Previously, Vallejo served as Chief Risk Officer and Senior Vice President of Ethics & Compliance at PG&E. In those roles, he managed risk assessment related to operations and public safety as well as oversight of ethics, compliance, privacy programs, federal compliance matters, records management, and information governance.

“In my 15 years at PG&E, I have come to know, love and deeply admire my coworkers, from our hometown service centers to our Oakland headquarters. I’m honored to continue fostering our culture, where it is enjoyable to work with and for PG&E and where we’re delivering for our customers to meet the dynamic and critical energy needs of California,” said Vallejo.

Before joining PG&E, Vallejo was a litigator at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP specializing in commercial cases and regulatory issues. He holds a law degree from Harvard Law School and an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Riverside.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company serves more than sixteen million people across Northern and Central California over an area of 70,000 square miles.
