In October, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) customers will receive a California Climate Credit of $58.23 on their electric bills. This automatic credit requires no action from residential households with an active electric account. The same amount was provided in the spring as part of the twice-a-year program.

Small business customers eligible for the credit will also see $58.23 applied to their bills in October, matching the amount received earlier in April. Over 2025, residential customers who have both gas and electric service with PG&E will receive total bill credits of $183.49, which includes an annual natural gas credit of $67.03. Eligible small businesses will receive a total of $116.46 in annual credits.

The California Climate Credit is part of the state’s Cap-and-Trade Program, overseen by the California Air Resources Board and distributed by PG&E under direction from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The program aims to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels across California.

“This credit helps ease energy costs for our customers and reinforces our commitment to a more sustainable and climate-resilient energy future,” said Vincent Davis, Senior Vice President, Customer Experience.

Since 2014, CPUC data shows that PG&E’s residential and small business customers have received an average total of $1,000 each through these credits, adding up to more than $12.9 billion statewide in benefits from the Cap-and-Trade Program.

PG&E provides several programs to help customers manage energy use and reduce bills. Customers can sign up for a free personal energy coach through HomeIntel or enroll in Budget Billing to spread out payments evenly throughout the year. Tools like Rate Comparison are available through online accounts so customers can check if they are on the lowest-cost rate plan for their household or business.

Personalized financial assistance recommendations and bill management resources are available using PG&E’s Savings Finder tool or by taking a Home Energy Checkup at Save Energy & Money.

Customers can also build an Energy Efficiency DIY Toolkit using energy-efficient materials to potentially save hundreds of dollars annually on utility costs.

For those who qualify based on income or medical needs, additional support programs such as Medical Baseline provide reductions on energy bills for individuals who rely on power for certain health conditions.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company serves over sixteen million people across 70,000 square miles in Northern and Central California as a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation (NYSE: PCG). More information is available at pge.com and pge.com/news.
