Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has announced an extension of its Match My Payment Program, which provides bill relief to customers facing financial difficulties. The program, initially set to end on December 31, 2025, will now continue into 2026 while funds remain available.
The Match My Payment Program matches qualifying low- to moderate-income customers’ payments dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000, for past-due energy bills. This initiative aims to help prevent service disconnections for those struggling with unpaid balances. PG&E launched the program in June with a $50 million commitment.
In addition to Match My Payment, PG&E’s Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help (REACH) program offers a bill credit of up to $300 for income-eligible customers who have received a disconnection notice. Customers who receive the REACH grant are also pre-qualified for up to $1,000 through the Match My Payment Program. This means eligible recipients can access combined support of up to $1,300 while funding lasts.
According to PG&E, nearly $22 million in assistance has been distributed through these programs so far in 2025, benefiting over 60,000 customers. Fresno, Kern, and San Joaquin counties have seen the highest numbers of approved applications and funding allocations—over $9.4 million collectively.
Vincent Davis, PG&E Senior Vice President of Customer Experience stated: “We know how challenging it can be for families to keep up with bills in so many aspects of daily life, and we’re focused on delivering meaningful support. This extension is about giving more customers the help they need so they can keep their home comfortable and safe.”
Eligibility for the Match My Payment Program is based on federal income guidelines; for example, a family of four earning less than $128,600 annually may qualify—double the limit required under REACH guidelines. Recipients may receive multiple matches during the year by paying at least $50 toward a past-due balance of at least $100.
Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are processed by Dollar Energy Fund (DEF), a nonprofit organization contracted by PG&E.
PG&E also offers other programs such as Medical Baseline—which reduces energy bills for customers reliant on power due to medical needs—and additional resources accessible via its Savings Finder tool or at pge.com/billhelp.
