Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is encouraging customers to take advantage of available tools and programs to manage energy use and costs during the summer months. The company’s Meteorology Operations team forecasts above-average temperatures for the season, which could lead to increased energy consumption.
PG&E recommends that customers review their current rate plans by logging into their online accounts and using the Rate Comparison tool. This can help ensure they are on the most cost-effective plan based on their household’s energy usage.
To avoid unexpected billing spikes, PG&E suggests enrolling in its Budget Billing program, which averages a customer’s energy costs over the past year to determine monthly payments. Customers can also sign up for Bill Forecast Alerts, which notify them via email, text, or phone if their bill is projected to exceed a set amount.
The HomeIntel program offers free personal energy coaching for those looking for more personalized advice on reducing energy consumption.
“We know the challenges rising temperatures can bring and we want to connect customers with the discounts and resources they need to weather the summer heat,” said Vincent Davis, PG&E Senior Vice President, Customer Experience. “A few small changes at home can make a difference, and we want to make sure families have access to support tools and programs that can reduce energy expenses.”
PG&E stated it does not anticipate additional electric rate increases through 2025. The company expects residential combined gas and electric bills will remain steady for the rest of this year and decrease in 2026. However, higher bills may still occur if customers increase air conditioning or cooling use during hot periods.

PG&E serves more than sixteen million people across 70,000 square miles in Northern and Central California. More details about its services are available at https://www.pge.com/ and https://www.pge.com/news.
