Snapchat has introduced a new feature called Home Safe, aimed at helping users notify friends when they have returned home after being out. The company says this tool is intended to offer reassurance to close contacts in situations such as returning from social events or trips.

According to Snap Inc., Home Safe alerts are structured with user safety and privacy in mind. Alerts can only be sent to friends with whom the user already shares their location, and each notification is sent just once before turning off automatically. The company also emphasizes that location sharing on Snap Map remains disabled by default, so users must opt in for anyone to see their location or receive a Home Safe alert.

The new feature is now available, providing Snapchatters with an option to let trusted individuals know about their safe return without needing to send a separate message.
