The U.S. Census Bureau has published preliminary findings from the 2024 Annual Survey of School System Finances. The data provide an early look at spending per student for public schools from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as summary statistics on revenues and expenditures by state for the fiscal year 2024.

It is noted that fiscal years are not standardized across all school systems, which may result in differences in how data are reported. The survey results have not been adjusted to account for these variations.

These figures are considered preliminary and may be updated before the final version is released. According to the Census Bureau, comprehensive data covering all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be available in 2026.
